Schmeisser has said that change is a constant theme in his practice. He used the analogy of changes happening to the printing plate, and to the way the print changes with repeated layers of printing plates and changes happening to a person, object or place over time. Schmeisser was a master print maker, who combined technical brilliance, rich aesthetics and commitment to conceptual development. He arrived in Australia from Germany via work and study in Japan and Israel, and was an inveterate traveller throughout his career. Examples of his work are held in private and public collections in many countries, including institutions such as the NGA and AGNSW. Editions from this series have been on public exhibition, including 'Jorg Schmeisser Retrospective: Neverending Journeys', Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts, Japan, 2018
